Module Man: Mr. Watt

I was asked to contribute to the new company internal newsletter. I thought that was a fabulous idea - who would've thought that working in accounting for a green energy company would allow me to draw one day?

One thought lead to an idea which led to a sketch which led to these line drawings here:

Ich wurde gefragt, etwas zum neuen Firmen-newsletter beizutragen. Ich fand die Idee fabelhaft - wer hätte gedacht, dass ich in der Buchhaltung einer Grünen Energie Firma eines Tages zum Zeichnen komme?

Ein Gedanke führte zu einer Idee die zu einer Skizze die zu diesen Linienzeichnungen führte.

Since it has just been mother's day, and today was father's day in some places, I thought I'd dedicate this one to both my parents.

Housewarming cake

Cat's bench

There are a lot of cats in my neighborhood. The other day I came home and a cat was stuck in the tree next to my building. I tried to coax her towards coming down but was not successful. So I stayed out next to the tree for a while and little by little other cats joined me.  It was getting dark and their eyes were glowing. I counted 7 in total, and it was quite freaky.

This one was one of them and likes to sit on the bench opposite to my neighbor's kitchen window when the sun is out. It was the second time I doodled her/him, this time with my fine liner (which I am currently more comfortable with than pencil):

In meiner Nachbarschaft gibt es unheimlich viele Katzen. Kürzlich kam ich heim und eine Katze saß auf dem Baum neben meinem Haus fest. Ich versuchte, sie herunterzulocken, war jedoch nicht erfolgreich. Also blieb ich noch ein wenig beim Baum und nach und nach gesellten sich andere Katzen zu mir. Es wurde dunkel und ihre Augen fingen an zu glühen. Insgesamt zählte ich 7 Katzen und es war echt abgefahren.

Diese hier war eine von ihnen und sitzt gerne auf der Bank vis a vis Nachbars Küchenfenster wenn sich die Sonne zeigt. Es war das zweite Mal, dass ich sie skizzieren konnte, diesmal mit meinem Fineliner (mit dem ich mich zur Zeit wohler fühle als mit Bleistift):

Just a wee thank you

Just a wee thank you to all that visited my blog last month. I have, since June 2009, never hit the 1000-views mark, but in March 2012 it went just above 1660 views for some reason ☺.

Ein kleines Dankeschön an alle, die letzten Monat meinen Blog besucht haben. Seit Oktober 2009 habe ich nie die 1000 Seitenaufrufe pro Monat erreicht, aber im März 2012 waren es aus irgendeinem Grund knapp über 1660 Seitenaufrufe ☺.

A friend who is planning to elope soon (just to be clear: NOT talking about ME) asked me to do her wedding card design. I thought the instructions she gave me on what was to be on the card were a fantastic excuse to finally use my Wacom tablet.

Eine Freundin wird demnächst mehr oder weniger heimlich heiraten (nur um klarzustellen, wir reden hier NICHT von MIR) und hat mich gefragt, ob ich ihr die Hochzeitskarte machen kann. Sie war sehr spezifisch mit den Details, was eine perfekte Möglichkeit war, mein Wacom tablet mal auszutesten.

I spent most of the time figuring out how to separate the lines from the background. So glad I now know how it works!!!

Den Großteil der Zeit habe ich damit verbracht, herauszufinden, wie man die Linien vom Hintergrund trennt. Endlich weiss ich, wie's funktioniert!!!

They are going to Lacgas, are taking a helicopter to the Grand Canyon to exchange their vows.

And afterwards they will be sending this card. If they like it.

Sie werden nach Las Vegas fliegen, und mit dem Hubschrauber zum Grand Canyon hinzukommen und dort ihr Eheversprechen ablegen. Und nachher sagen sie jedem mit der Karte Bescheid,... wenn sie die Karte denn mögen.
